Course Information

This course is limited to University of Witwatersrand Faculty of Health Sciences Students.  The cost of the course will be charged to your student account.

 

Course Information

Medical Minds will follow a BLENDED LEARNING MODEL.

 

Theory – On a Saturday

  • Students must book for the First Aid course.
  • A link to the live session will be emailed to students prior to training.
  • Students can log on, on a Saturday and watch a live presentation of the First Aid Level 1 training. These sessions are interactive, and students can ask questions during the session.
  • Students will have to confirm their attendance by typing in their name, surname and student number in the chat.
  • Students will have access to an online manual, as well as a detailed PowerPoint presentation and direct access to a qualified instructor.

Time of live presentation:  9h00 to 16h00

 

Practical skills assessment – On a Sunday

  • Sundays will be the written exam (1.5 hrs) and practical skills assessment: Adult CPR (5min per student at a 1:1 student/manikin ratio).
  • Theory evaluation will be a written test. Not more than 15 students allowed in a classroom.  Students will sit 1.5 to 2m apart from each other.  Students must bring their own pens.

Time of written exam and practical skills assessment:  9h00 to 13h00

 

Strict Covid-19 CPR Protocols are followed

  1. Students stand 1.5 m apart before entering the class, one student at a time.
  2. Students sanitize their hands before entering the class.
  3. Students wear their masks at all times.
  4. Students desks are 2m apart for the written exam.
  5. Students use their own pens.
  6. Students perform COVID-19 updated CPR protocol of Hands only CPR not providing actual breaths to the manikin.
  7. CPR student/manikin ratio is 1:1.
  8. All Equipment is sanitized before and after each use.
  9. All other COVID-19 protocol will be adhered to.

 

* The campus and venue may be subject to change. An email notification will be sent to all course attendees, advising them of the campus and venue location, three days prior to the course date – this is for the written exam and practical skills assessment part of the training (on a Sunday)

It is up to each student to make sure they received the email reminder and to follow up with Medical Minds if they didn’t receive it.

Students can’t attend the course unless they have booked through the website and received a booking confirmation.  You will be asked to leave the class if you’re not on the list of attendees for that day.

Cancellation

Medical Minds will no longer charge students cancellation fees when they cancel late or are absent the day of the written exam and practical assessment.

– If you put in the wrong / misspelled email address, you won’t receive any communication from us.
